Whilst John Terry was no doubt excused from last night’s double friendly against Kidderminster Harriers and Telford, a certain Sam Johnstone was at New Bucks Head.

For those following the tennis, Terry was in London at the Wimbledon Championships taking in a day of sun and I guess we can expect to see him in action from the friendlies onwards given he joined us for pre season training slightly late compared to everyone else.

However the real story, as noted by the Birmingham Mail was that Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone was at Telford and clearly it’s almost time for him to be announced as a capture on what people guess will be a season long loan taking him through until he’s a free agent – unless United offer a new contract and that’s the hold up.

Having been with us for the second part of last season, keeping eight clean sheets in 22 appearances, he was there to cheer on the boys and youngster Matija Sarkic who took position between the sticks at Telford and you certainly wouldn’t argue with a possible announcement later today or tomorrow.

Especially as Dr Tony Xia was asked to announce Johnstone yesterday, and he replied simply:

‘very soon…UTV’.
