Following on from the signing of former Caen defender Frederic Guilbert, Aston Villa fans followed the second half of his campaign out in the French Ligue 1 with plenty of interest.
Villa Signing Isn’t With Us In Body Yet, But He Certainly Is In Spirit
The 24-year-old full back didn’t have the best of seasons as Caen finished in 19th place and suffered relegation, but he was a regular on social media interacting with the fans and reacting to life at Villa Park as we successfully won promotion back to the Premier League and he’s continued that over the summer, holding a questions and answer session with fans as we get to know him better.
I like these numbers I don't require anything 👌🏼

With his comment about the No 21 shirt in response to one of the questions, fans instantly latched on to his position and the former Scottish Cafu, and his answer to ‘Why Aston Villa’ certainly went down a treat as well.
Love his desire to play for our club regardless of what division we're in, welcome to Villa Fred????????

Credit to him, he said he'd work on improving his English over the season when he signed and he's doing well, will be good for fitting in with the lads we have already #avfc

Improved on his English too which will put him in good stead with the other defenders????????

We’ve got a new cult hero at number 21 by the loooks of things.

If he’s got the spirit and attitude as Alan Hutton, he’s already half way there in becoming an unlikely fan favourite.
