The Jury Is Still Out But 21 y/o Should Get New Villa Deal & Report Suggests It’s Close

|

Keinan Davis’ development at Aston Villa has been both dramatic, and disappointing as he was heavily hit by injury problems in recent seasons.

Having been released by Stevenage and spending time with non-league side Biggleswade, back in 2015 he joined our Academy setup and impressed plenty when then manager Steve Bruce turned to him in 2017, and despite his age and experience, he played a massive role in helping us through a spell where we had a lack of options at the top of the pitch.

The biggest question about the 21-year-old has been his goal return though. To date, 19 starting appearances and 28 substitute showings have only returned four goals, but as a target man, there is more to his play than those statistics will show.

He’s certainly well liked by those on the Vital Villa Forum as many see his potential and plenty saw the positives from his last showing against Crystal Palace.

But strikers will always be judged by goals, and with Davis’ contract coming to an end next summer it seems head coach Dean Smith is certainly pleased with him as a report now suggests that there will soon be a new longer term deal on the table for the lad.

Given what we’ve seen from him so far, and with how much improvement he can still make to his game, I would think most fans would certainly be on board with another two year deal to find out what we can really get out of him.
