I don’t have much heart for this I have to admit. It seems players can leave quickly enough but we don’t get replacements in very fast.

Look at Boro, they might sell Rhodes but not before they get another striker in. Us? We sold Rudy Gestede to them despite losing Ayew and Kodjia to the African Cup Of Nations. Baffling.

Another player on his way out. Looks like Aly Cissokho is about to sign a loan deal at Olympiakos. See: Player Leaves Villa – If Only They Arrived As Quickly

An older link now, I had it saved up for the next transfer article and then lost the will to live so didn’t do one!

Steve Bruce is eyeing a reunion with Tom Cairney – three years after he sold him. Aston Villa boss Bruce is plotting a move for Fulham’s star midfielder Cairney this month according to The Mirror

The Nottingham Post say that Henri Lansbury will make the move from Nottingham Forest to Aston Villa despite the takeover collapsing. say John Jay Moores and his partners reportedly gave Al Hasawi a £2.2 million loan to pay wages in December. And now the plug has been pulled on the takeover by the current owner, Jay Moores wants his money back.

The Mail say we are interested in a move for Wolfsburg youngster Anton Donkor. He`s a German U20 international who plays at either left-back or in midfield.

I was reading the other day that Villa might sacrifice both Jordan Ayew and Ross McCormack and bring in Middlesbrough striker Jordan Rhodes. You`ll know if you`ve read previous summaries on Vital Villa that he`s been linked several times.

This report suggests Rhodes exit from Boro could be one step closer:

The Sun have lined us to £3m rated Watford midfielder Adlene Guedioura. I have no further details as I only read it over someone`s shoulder in Muffin Break Redditch!!!!!!!!! I know, I know, this is quality reporting. I have to be honest, I am sooooo bored of these rumours, we need players on the pitch.

  • I’m fed up of reading about Lansbury; Cairney; Rhodes et al. Why the hell would you get rid of Gestede and play Agbonlahor… whenever I see his name in the 1st team it make me Livid.

I know there may be a few people who come on and fedend him, but how

  • It’s gone a bit quiet! Like on Jaws just before he brakes through the boat! Not a good image.

  • like waiting for the bus, then 3 turn up at the same time and you hope the one you have been waiting for is amongst them.

  • I’m with Ormskirk. For the life of me I cannot understand the logic of selling Gestede even without the players going to the African Cup. At least twice this season him coming on as Plan B got us points & also getting Rhodes without him is pointless

  • I’m with Ormsmirk and Aston Billa about Flabby. I have been saying on here how Flabby is completely useless and even Bruce must now concede that he is crap. God help us if he continues to keep picking him and it appears that once again we ruin another pr

  • Seems pretty clear that we’re having to sell before we can buy, indicating the doc has lost interest and/or never had the squillions he bragged about.
If you were a half decent player how keen would you be to come here when there’s no chance of promotion

  • How very dare you, only!!! Dr. X “never had the squillions”?? You’ll really upset the Mondeo Singers…….

  • It’s probably no coincidence that our form started to drop the moment Gabby was sniffing around the first team again. The lad is a curse.

  • All this talk about transfers is the biggest spoof of all time, even if the rumoured players wanted to come to AV there is certainly NO money to buy them. Dr. Xhia has no money..

  • Presumably there is some consideration of Fifa fair play rules in the selling/purchasing strategy rather than Xia losing interest would you not think?

  • Is Rhodes the answer ? without putting in a couple of midfielders who can create chances we can keep buying strikers till we are blue in the face and get no where. This situation has existed since Delph went and was a large contribution to us being relega

  • Merlin, spot on comment. Rhodes probably no better than McCormack really and I guess if McC had five or six chances per game he might bury one.
Unless you can get hold of a striker who can get/win the ball on the half way line and then run at the defence
