I’m still waiting for Wolverhampton Wanderers to have the much-predicted winter blip! What was the theory? The loan players, once the winter hits, will find out what the Championship is really like and won’t be able to cope?
Hmmm! Politics aside, that’s not my business and it appears to have been looked at by the Football League, you have to say congratulations to them. They were by far and away the best side throughout the season and played some magical football. I am pleased, from our point of view that despite them playing us off the park at Molineux, we managed to return the favour when they visited Villa Park.
Congratulations to @Wolves for an amazing season. And ??? at Villa legend and diamond geezer Sid Cowans. #AVFC #UTV #WWFC #Wolveshttps://t.co/H2B1JSsxom

A few days back spurious reports surfaced linking Leicester City with an interest in Aston Villa starlet Jack Grealish.
There was nothing in the reports to imply it was anything other than standard media invention that lent on the fact Jack’s had a good season and really started showing what he’s capable of. Clearly, he’ll be featuring in scout reports for a number of clubs as they update their databases.
Reactions amongst the fans were typically mixed. Some started to lose their marbles and expected this kind of speculation to grow, especially if we missed out on promotion this season. Others couldn’t see it happening regardless because of Jack’s love for the club – Leicester City are no Manchester City after all. Others focused in on the ‘picked out of the air’ fee of £20million and wondered where the rest of the money was when you fairly compared his potential to Riyad Mahrez and the fee they appear to have valued him at.

DeanoVilla posed an interesting question to members of Vital Villa this week…have we all turned into a bunch of Doug Ellis’?
The appointment of Steve Bruce was certainly welcomed in a calmer manner than the appointment of Alex McLeish.
Whether that was down to the gap in years between Bruce’s ties to St Andrews and the fact he tasted promotion success during his time at Hull City crossed with the fact Big Eck travelled directly to Aston from Small Heath is open to debate.

Thought for the day: “Charles Dickens’ “A Tale of Two Cities” was originally serialised in two local newspapers. It was the Bicester Times, it was the Worcester Times………”
