The Return of Aaron and Davo!

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, our Captain was full of praise for both former Villans and although he was sad to see them go, he realises that’s part and parcel of the game thesedays:

‘Steven took a year or two to come through the ranks but as soon as he made his debut he never really looked back.

‘He came on as a substitute against Norwich and from then he was virtually an ever-present.

‘It’s always disappointing when one of your own leaves the club but in this game, players come and go.

‘Aaron spent two good years here while Steven was here for five years as a professional.

‘They never caused an ounce of trouble off the pitch and gave 100 per cent every time they put on the claret and blue shirt.’

Craig Gardner also has fond memories of both players and whilst wishing them the best of luck for the rest of the season, especially with Fulham’s current form, he hopes they miss points against us – obviously:

‘Steven was a quiet, down-to-earth lad who just got on with his job. He was a nice lad and I got on with him well.

‘He is their danger man. He likes to break into the box and score goals and he’s very good on the ball.

‘He’s got quick feet and we’ll have to watch out for him on Sunday.

‘People might find it strange seeing him line-up in the white shirt of Fulham, but for me, that’s just football. Players come and go all the time.

‘Aaron, like Davo, is a quiet lad and a real genuine guy but I hope he’s on the losing side at the weekend.’
