This followed the news that no new contracts were being looked at and it appeared the Scottish Cafu would not have his contract renewed.
It then transpired, there was A Glimmer Of Hope For Model Professional Alan Hutton?.
Now The Birmingham Mail have a quote from Steve Bruce saying:
“If we get promoted I will offer him a new contract.”
He went on to explain that, due to the uncertainty as to what league we will be in next season (bearing in mind the ridiculous financial fair play rules) no conversations can be held right now. “It is what I have said to Alan and he appreciated the truth.”
So it was basically as I thought and mused a few weeks back. Hutton had to be told that he can`t be guaranteed a renewal right now, so he can talk to other clubs, but it wasn`t a door being slammed in his face so to speak.
