Some reports are still linking him despite his quotes ‘I’m leaving Charlton because I need a break’ and ‘I can’t see myself being at another club come August. But who knows?’ Another is saying that Curbishley won’t come to Villa because of…. yes, you’ve guessed it, the ‘Menace of B6’ Herbert Douglas Ellis.

Juan Pablo Angel says: ‘I’ll always be thankful to the Villa fans for the rest of my life and that will never change. But we’ll have to wait and see what happens. I’m really happy in England and my kids are growing up here and I can’t see any reason why I’d want to go anywhere else. Vital Villa asked if David O’Leary should walk at the end of the season to save his reputation. 84% said yes, 16% no.
We also asked if you would like Alan Curbishley at Villa. 49% said yes but only if Martin O’Neill wasn’t available, 18% said yes. 5% said no and 28% said it won’t make a difference whilst Ellis remains.
Gary Cahill is looking to develop himself into a first team regular saying: ‘I’ve only had a handful of first-team games and every week you come up against quality strikers and different types of strikers. I want to push on from my run at the end of the season and learn quickly. When we’re back at Anfield next season, I want to be a regular in the side and I want to keep a clean sheet.’
Sam Williams is in contention to start in Sunday’s game against Sunderland. O’Leary said: ‘Now we’re safe, I’d like to try a few more things with a few more of the younger players against Sunderland. I want to make use of the game.’ Shame O’Leary didn’t make use of a few more games this season isn’t it? As a report in ICBrum says, it is nearly £500 000 per place in the Prem so we need to beat Sunderland to guarantee 16th with Portsmouth still capable of leapfrogging us.
A banner at Anfield from the Villa fans said: ‘O’Leary for England Manager’. Lets hope some more banners appear for the Sunderland game, a mix of Ellis and O’Leary ones would do nicely. It doesn’t take much to let your displeasure be known, so do something!
David O’Leary says he is up for the fight and doesn’t intend to walk out. Of-course he won’t bloody walk, he is on around £1.7million a season. Be interesting to see what Doug does after Sunday. This is our worst ever Premiership season and Herbert has sacked managers for less. O’dearme said: ‘I’m like everybody else, with regard to who will take over the club. It’s still ‘wait and see’. Maybe if I was ten years older, I wouldn’t be so willing to put up the fight. You’d give in to it and let it get on top of you, but I’m willing to put up with all the flak as, the longer you stay, the more you want to put it right.’
