Our latest poll asks you for your win, lose, draw predictions and BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson has once again tipped us to win, this time 2-0. He said on the BBC site: ‘Mathematically, Wigan could still go down but I think they are safe, regardless of the result at Villa Park. Aston Villa’s home form is very good and they’ve been scoring a lot of goals so I’m going to go for a Villa win.’

Martin O’Neill believes says it is too early to start comparing Ashley Young with wing wizard Tony Morley but is full of praise for the youngster. ‘Ashley has been absolutely fantastic for us since he came here from Watford. He has been phenomenal this season even though he had little rest after playing for the England Under-21s last summer. To get into the PFA team was a wonderful achievement for him and showed what his fellow pros think of him, which always counts for a lot with a player.’

Olof Mellberg is hoping to be fit to bid farewell to the loyal fans of Aston Villa before moving in the summer to Juventus. We reported yesterday that Ollie has a bug but he hopes to shake it off. The bearded one said on the official site: ‘The fans in England are very different to the fans elsewhere and our fans here at Aston Villa have always been fantastic with me. I think they know I have always given 100 per cent and they have been with me ever since I joined the club. I have always said I have appreciated the fans for the way they have supported me. The whole club has treated me fantastically well – I have never had any problems with anyone really.’ Full quotes: Click Here

Martin O’Neill says that Villa have to focus on themselves and not worry to much about Everton. Meanwhile Villa skipper Gareth Barry told the Mirror, (that is the paper you understand, he doesn’t stand there in the mirror talking to himself. That said, I don’t know the guy, so can’t vouch as a 100% fact that he doesn’t, or does, or…. when you’ve dug a hole, stop digging) Barry said: ‘It’s important we get the three points and put the pressure on Everton and a couple of goals could also help with the goal difference.’ Full article: O’Neill Focused On Villa Not Toffees

Gabby Agbonlahor says Villa will miss Olof Mellberg. ‘Olof’s done a lot for the club and you can tell how much the fans think of him by the way they sing his name every time he comes on to the pitch. He will be a big miss but he has come to the stage of his career where he wants to try something new so fair play to him.’

Rumours around the net is that this could well be the new Villa top for next season. There is no proof to back up this claim but I thought it was worth looking at it anyway! Click Here
