Marc Albrighton has admitted that he has an ‘absolutely huge’ season ahead of him as he looks to impress Paul Lambert. Proud to be a Villan: So the transfer window is open, and is greeted with the usual excitement and anticipation that it is every season. But I feel this transfer window is the most important yet for our youth development. As we know our academy is one of the best in the country and is starting to produce some good products. In several games last season we had seven players on the pitch that were all home grown. The circumstances surrounding it could have been better, as some of it was down to injuries, but it gave us what hopefully is a sign of what maybe to come. It’s likely that Villa will release Wolves from their pre season friendly obligation to enable them to face Aldershot in the first round of the Capital One Cup. Wolves are hoping to face Aldershot at the Molineux on August 11, and with Aldershot agreeing, they have contacted us for permission to cancel the friendly. Confirmation will no doubt come tomorrow when business opens again. It’s unknown if we will schedule another pre season fixture to fill the gap.
