Former Villa striker Marcus Allback scored the winning goal for Copenhagen against Manchester United in Group F of the Champions League last night.

Aston Villa are being linked with QPR winger Lee Cook. QPR (and former Villa) manager John Gregory said of the 24-year-old: ‘He has been outstanding and I know there are clubs having a look at him. We will always be under pressure if someone comes in with money.’

Martin Laursen is hoping the Villa’s hectic schedule will mean he’ll get a first team game: ‘There are three games in six days, which will hopefully give me a chance of featuring in at least one of the games. I was pleased when we got through against Leicester, because it meant another game and gave me a better chance to play. I’m desperate to play. I want to play as many minutes as I possibly can. But I can understand the situation. It’s the same with the national team, I’ve been away and the players that have played have played well.’

Vital Villa asked what kept Villa fans away from Villa Park. 53% said nothing, they always attend. 21% said the price. 8% got used to doing other things when they got fed up with the Ellis era and another 8% pick and choose the games they wish to see. That left 5% being put off by the constant fixture changes and 5% bemoaning the lack of star players.
