Unoial Villa News…

Aston Villa have confirmed that next season they will forgo shirt sponsorship worth in excess of £2million and instead have the logo of the Acorns Children’s Hospice on the shirt for free. Villa Forgo Shirt Sponsorship For Charity

Whilst on the subject of Acorns I got an email from Vital member Bob Dunbar who said: Barclays Bank ‘Walsall Area’ are holding a fund raising for Acorns and as this is also the clubs charity the Villa have kindly donated 4 signed pennants which come with a certificate of authentication. They are being raffled for a pound a ticket and are in the following branches of Barclays Bank: Tamworth, Sutton Coldfield, Perry Barr and Erdington. The raffle tickets are on sale from the 2nd to the 6th of June along with other events and this is the first part of the fund raising that Barclays are organising with support from the club.

According to the press today, Gareth Barry wants a quick decision over his future. Ok, here is a quick decision, you are contracted to Aston Villa and you can’t leave. Cool. Sorted. Next…! He has been quoted, whilst away on England duty – yes, take note, he has become a regular England player whilst at Villa, so talk of needed champions league football to command a place is utter drivel… I digress – that he has been ‘flattered’ by the interest from Liverpool. He added, that although bids have been made, if they aren’t accepted he can’t even start to think about making a decision. Full article: Barry Wants Quick Decision – Here’s One, NO move!

Vital Villa have smashed records, not literally, that would just be naughty, but May was our best month ever…. During the month of May, or the merry month of may if you are that way inclined, Vital Villa had 259 570 visits, enough people to fill Villa Park nearly six times over. On top of that we had 1 501 789 page impressions, beating our previous best by 200 000. Super duper! Or if you want the slightly more useless statistic of hits, and why not, it is the biggest number after all (!) we had 11 569 558 of them. Double super duper.

By the way, if you have any old Villa shirts that you are looking to off load, how about sending them to Ghana? Full details: Click Here

Thought for the day: (Viz letter) I HAVE just returned from a diplomatic trip to the Congo and I can testify that at no point did I see anyone drinking Um Bongo.
