Martin O’Neill spoke after the game last night, simply put, Martin O’Neill told the official site: ‘Job done.’ Speaking to AVTV ‘Overall, I think we were reasonably comfortable throughout the evening. Marlon scored a good goal and that meant that instead of scoring three to get through the tie, they then needed three before they could even think about extra time. We had opportunities to put it beyond them but sometimes in football it doesn’t happen. I’ve had experience of these things.’ Full article: O’Neill Excited At Prospect Of European Nights

Marlon Harewood praised the fans after last night’s win. He told AVTV: ‘It was all about progress. We felt good after the win at the weekend and it was nice to have another game come around so soon afterwards. We did what we needed to get through to the group stages and it was nice for me to get a goal. That should give me a boost of confidence. Hopefully, I can score some more goals to help the boys out.’ Adding, ‘The fans were signing ‘Feed the Hare’. I love that chant. The fans lift all the lads throughout each game. When you are out on the pitch and you hear them singing, it sounds fantastic. It is a great feeling to hear them chanting their name. You want to get out there and do your best for them.’

Charity begins at Villa Park apparently. Villa fan Chris Cooper is to go on a small bike ride tomorrow. Coops has joined the Aston Villa Former Players Association as part of their events management team is to ride 500 miles from Villa Park to Paris. Blimey, I hope he has a comfy seat! He will be wearing club colours as he raises funds for the Paul Birch Trust. The ride will take 5 days and is set to raise funds for former Villa midfielder Birchey who is fighting bone cancer. And as if one Charitable Villan wasn’t enough, Villa legend Ian Taylor tomorrows makes a mad jump out of a plane. Still, only 10 000 feet Ian! The fans favourite is doing a freefall skydive tomorrow following the postponement last month due to bad weather. Ian wasn’t available to find out if he was praying for hurricanes again tomorrow!!!!! He is doing this to raise money for the club’s official charity partner, Acorns Children’s Hospice. For the full details Charity Begins At Villa Park… Apparently
