According to Clubcall – not the most reliable when it comes to news – Villa will offer former Celtic player Didier Agathe a short-term contract after the James Milner transfer was halted by Newcastle. Agathe has been on trial at Villa training with the team at Bodymoor Heath.

Gareth Barry has put faith in Martin O’Neill to help the Villa midfielder re-claim a place in the England squad.
Barry, in an interview in the Sunday Mirror said; ‘It’s been frustrating for the past three years. I got into the England squad quite young but for some reason Eriksson didn’t fancy me.’ The lady that sits next to me at Villa does though, although I don’t suppose that is much of a help really. Vital Villa asked if you were upset that James Milner couldn’t sign for Villa. 64% said yes, he is a top player.
29% said his signing would have been nice but they weren’t too bothered. 6% said no, we should be aiming higher.
1% said they were unsure.

Milan Baros is due to return to action and has targeted next weekends match against West Ham. He said; ‘I’ve been training regularly for a week. I should be on the bench after the international break. Randy Lerner is apparently on Midlands Today at 6.30pm tonight.

1pm today is the takeover deadline, we should – I’m sure – expect a statement in the next day or so as to what percentage Mr L has reached. 75% is the target for the RAL group so they can look to de-list Villa from the Stock Exchange, I’m fairly sure they’ll have sailed passed that target.
