DJFrance asks: Who is on the beach ? If I understand correctly, during the current two weeks without football at AVFC, five players from our extensive and well paid squad are on International duty. That led me to wonder, what the other players do during the break and also, what are the coaching staff doing? Read more: Who is on the beach?

Bristol City held by Onomah.. I wouldn’t say I was ungrateful for the point Villa gained at Ashton Gate but no one could claim that it went entirely to plan, because the plan had been to play three at the back, a system known to have served Steve Bruce well at Hull, but the trouble was that for reasons unknown, Bruce had the the wrong players on the pitch to implement his experiment successfully, as James Chester, a much admired centre-back, looked rather less competent out on Villa’s right, even though Christopher Samba was the busier on Villa’s left, where he was required to provide some heroic interventions as Villa struggled to get out of their own first-third. Then as the evidence became too overwhelming to be ignore, Bruce decided to revert to a back-four, and again he found he had the wrong players on the pitch and he was forced to swap the robust Samba for the more mobile James Bree. End of deadline day and all the deals (and any that followed late) have been announced, so how did sides shape up against their Championship opponents over the summer. Plenty of sides had a few outgoings as the month progressed, and whilst some were active ahead of deadline day on the incoming front – things certainly kicked into gear in the final few days as would’ve been expected and happens every year now. Young striker Rushian Hepburn-Murphy has suffered another injury setback as he looks to get himself going in the Aston Villa first team this season. Manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that he’s suffered another setback and having picked up a thigh strain, the youngster won’t be available for selection for the remainder of this month. Aston Villa have announced that young goalkeeper Matija Sarkic has now headed out to Wigan Athletic on a loan spell. The 20 year old youngster and regular Under 23 player for Kevin MacDonald’s side will link up with the DW outfit according to the Official Site until January 2008.

Midfielder Gary Gardner has this evening completed his expected loan move out to Oakwell and Barnsley from Aston Villa. Our Academy graduate heads to the fellow Championship club on a loan spell that will expire at the end of the 2017/18 campaign and it’s another piece of business with Barnsley following our signing of Conor Hourihane and James Bree in the January 2017 window.
