Vital Villa asked whether David O’Leary WILL be sacked or leave at the end of the season. The question wasn’t whether you wanted him to be! 59% said we are stuck with him. 29% said Ellis would sack him, 12% that he will leave. What is most likely? The status quo remaining. 🙁 Not so much ‘rocking all over the world’, more ‘down down, deeper and down.’

Congratulations to David O’Leary for becoming our worst ever Premiership manager. Thanks also to him for joining the players in a lap of ‘honour’. {rant mode on} WHAT WERE YOU DOING THERE YOU NUMPTY? 10 wins, 12 draws, 16 losses. 42 points and 16th in the league. A league position we finished in when you took over from Graham Taylor – a man you slated for where he’d finished. Get real and get lost O’Leary. {rant mode off}

No news on David O’Leary following a board meeting yesterday, so it looks like he might well remain as Villa manager. He says he has two years left on his contract and that he expects to see them out.

Juan Pablo Angel has been linked to a move to Manchester City. Angel is certainly likely to be amongst the many players who are allowed to leave this summer, whether we’ll get replacements remains to be seen.

Lee Hendrie says he doesn’t know if he will still be at Villa next season but thanks the fans for the reception he got on Sunday. Full article: Click Here

Lee Hendrie has been linked again to Southampton.

Censorship is alive and well and residing in B6 as fans had banners taken off them before entering the ground OR removed when they were put up. Gazton Villa had his Ireland flag removed from the Trinity… As he explained: ‘On one side it said ‘My missus doesn’t know I’m Here’ and everyone seemed to get a chuckle from it. Then when I went to swap it over to the ‘I’m not fickle, I hate Ellis too’ side, the stewards got their instructions and it was promptly taken away.’ Another saying ‘Ellis Out – No More Excuses’ wasn’t allowed into the Witton Lane stand.

O’Leary has said any players not hungry can leave this summer. I’ve suggested a starvation diet, that said, I’m a pratt! Full article and quotes: Click Here

O’Leary wants Villa to sign up James Milner permanently from Newcastle United and hopes the sales of Mathieu ‘not give a chance’ Berson and Djemba ‘why didn’t I get a game’ Djemba might help fund the purchase. ‘I hope the Milner deal is just done because I regard him as a Villa player.’ Certainly regard Milner as a Villa player, think it will be a rainy day in hell when I consider DOL a Villa manager though. Ooooh, get her.

Gary Cahill is looking to secure his long term future at Villa now the season is over. He is also ambitious and wants to cement his place in the team.

A press-man claimed that former Charlton manager Alan Curbishley was at Villa Park on Friday. Think he was on the wind-up!

There was also a delegation of Chinese chaps at the ground last week and at the game on Sunday (poor buggers) and now people are putting 2+2 and expecting a bid. Fingers crossed but don’t hold your breath!

David O’Leary has said he might be interested in trying to sign injury prone midfielder Eirike Bakke from Leeds on a permanent deal.

Gareth Barry says the fans deserved better this season. The Players’ Player of the Year said: ‘The fans gave us a great reception. Some of the press were saying beforehand that it might be a bit rocky, but the supporters were brilliant and really got behind the players. They stayed behind afterwards and that ‘lap of honour’ is as much about us thanking them for their support throughout the season. We know they haven’t had as much to cheer about this season as we would have liked, but their support makes us more determined than ever to get things right next season.’
Wilfred Bouma hasn’t made the provisional Dutch squad for the World Cup Finals in Germany. Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Edgar Davids has also missed out.

Horrible rumour doing the rounds on Sunday was that O’Leary is considering a bid for Birmingham City’s A-Mule Heskey.

Oh and Villa Times reader is now free having endured yet another dismal season he will not be attending next season. Gareth, if you ever want a ticket to share the misery, give me a bell. Actually, sod the bell, give me a nice watch.

Another Villa Times reader, Ian, is stuck with the Villa as his nasty son Alex (hi Alex!!) wants to carry on coming down – and quite rightly! Ian, you’d only miss my inane ramblings anyway! ;-))

Thought for the day: Why are Villa fans so apathetic to not even raise a murmur about our worst ever Premiership season. Maybe we are the sugarbags after-all?
