Milan Baros is part of the squad for tonight’s reserves match against Portsmouth (away) as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury picked up in training before the world cup finals. He will be joined by Patrik Berger, Wilfred Bouma, new signing Didier Agathe and Eric Djemba-Djemba. Reserves squad: Taylor, Gardner, Bridges, Djemba-Djemba, O’Halloran, Bouma, Agathe, Osbourne, Whittingham, Baros, Berger. Subs: Green, Olejnik, Kabeya, MacDonald.

Vital Villa asked who would be Villa’s top scorer this season. 59% said Juan Pablo Angel, 27% said Milan Baros and 6% backed Stiliyan Petrov. That left Luke Moore and Gabriel Agbonlahor sharing 3% each and a.n.other option polled just 2%.

Martin Laursen has explained he only found out he was set to make his Premiership return an hour before the kick off against West Ham on Sunday. ‘I’m pleased with my performance.
