Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has now held his pre game press conference ahead of the match against Nottingham Forest this weekend and he’s revealed we are close to a new signing. Villa make the trip to the City Ground on Saturday to face Nottingham Forest and their new manager Aitor Karanka and Bruce knows this is now a telling period when it comes to our hopes for promotion. Villa go floppy in the Floccinaucinihilipilification Cup… In a week when Philippe Coutinho moved from Liverpool to Barcelona for £142m, a player very easily confused with Eden Hazard and a quite few others, it is impossible to have any sort of delusion as to the financial gulf between the Premier League and the Championship, and the predictable enervating affect upon any club which spends much time beyond the cut-off period of the parachute-payments in the second tier. Aston Villa owner Dr Tony Xia has issued a rallying call to fans as we now find ourselves in the second half of the 2017/18 campaign. Villa go into this weekend’s tie with Nottingham Forest sitting inside of the Play Off positions in 5th place but a loss this weekend and victory for Sheffield United would see us drop out. Taking to Twitter yesterday, our owner felt that we had avoided a serious crisis and improved a lot, but even he admitted we weren’t doing as well as he hoped we would. Not the first time he’s said that either. Read more: Aston Villa Owner Issues Rallying Call
