Manager Steve Bruce held his pre Wolverhampton Wanderers press conference earlier and as well as talking about the game he also had kind words about Graham Taylor following his passing. I think GT is of slightly more importance than Wolves so I’ll split this and cover his words on our former gaffer on their own. The Official Site have Bruce quoted as saying that Bodymoor Heath was a quiet place following news of his death as obviously plenty at the club knew him well. This week the blog took me in a slightly different direction. I was determined to talk about GT’s awful front page treatment but it got me thinking maybe there is some hypocrisy here, who sets the tone?

JPA: ‘What Do Points Make?’ Apologies for the title – I was looking for an inspirational Bruce quote. Unfortunately, the ‘Bruce` I came up with was Forsyth rather than Steve. It seems poignant, and pertinent, that in the week that Villa legend (in my opinion at least) Graham Taylor passed away, we find ourselves yet again at a kind of crossroads. At the very least, the sat-nav needs rebooting. One of Taylor`s great quotes springs easily to mind: ‘This place is a shambles.’ Read more: Aston Villa: What Do Points Make?
