Craig Gardner has spoken about his future after scoring his first senior goal for Aston Villa at the weekend against Middlesbrough. The midfielder told the official site: ‘I think the goal has been coming and now I’ve got it. The gaffer just told me to get into the box and get onto the end of things. Gabby did well to get the ball to me and, to be honest, it got stuck under my foot at first. But then I just tucked it away and then I just ran off. I didn’t see it hit the net. As soon as I saw it go past Mark Schwarzer I just turned and ran. I didn’t really know where I was going – I just ran until someone jumped on me.’ It also looks like the 20-year-old might be offered a new deal at Villa Park. Gabby Agbonlahor is looking for Villa to end the season with a bang. ‘We’re on a bit of a run now and we just want to keep it going until the end of the season. We played well in a lot of games earlier this season without getting the results we deserved – games like Bolton at home. Now we’re starting to turn performances into results and to win two away games on the trot has given everybody a lift.’

The official site have said that season tickets for the 2007-08 campaign are now on sale. Bugger, just booked a holiday, forgot about the renewal dates!!! Chief Executive, Richard FitzGerald told www.avfc.co.uk: ‘Everyone associated with the club has been rightly proud of the value for money offered by an Aston Villa season or match ticket on a year-to-year basis and it was important to retain that reputation. There has been a great deal of discussion recently about the cost of watching top level football but the overall improvement of one of the most robust pricing structures around re-affirms this club’s understanding of the current social climate.’ Adding: ‘The Football Supporters’ Federation launched a campaign highlighting the cost of watching soccer but the campaign hasn’t highlighted clubs which offer value for money. At Aston Villa we feel we do exactly that and our 06/07 headline Season Ticket price is the cheapest in this region despite us currently being the only Premiership club. As well as basic pricing, match grading has been retained to support a structure that means the cost of a ticket is relative to the quality of the opposition or importance of a fixture and the new 10% discount offered to students and members of the armed forces for season tickets anywhere in the stadium makes us even more keenly priced for next season.’

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says Villa have as much potential as The Gunners. ‘In England, you have the potential of 10 massive clubs and they will not always be asleep. To smash in and compete in the top four, you will now have Aston Villa, Newcastle, Tottenham. They are all big clubs with the same potential as Arsenal.’
