More going out than coming in? Now there is a surprise. 25 year old Berson, who cost us £1.6million after much chasing, is the latest player to be linked with an outward move. Having failed to break into the first team – or having failed to be given a chance amongst mediocre competition – his agent is assessing his players options. Espanyol have been linked to him. Berson’s agent Olivier Jouanneaux told BBC Sport: ‘We’re trying to find the best solution to suit both the player and Aston Villa. There’s been contact with Espanyol and Mathieu is keen to go to Barcelona.’

Angel, who scored just 7 goals in 35 games last season, is determined to put that behind him and come back all guns blazing. Angel says ‘I missed pre-season last year because of injury. I came from the surgery and had to have another check-up over here. It meant I played catch-up ever since. I’m really looking forward to getting in a full pre-season. I’m looking forward to having a proper pre-season and doing things right.’

Malbranque has reportedly said he has no interest in joining Villa after a rumoured £3.5million bid. Tottenham and Liverpool are said to be favourites to get his signature. So that is how low we have sunk, we aren’t seen as an improvement on Fulham. still, we aren’t in debt (sic)

Villa have confirmed Stefan Moore has now signed for QPR and Steve Stride attacked QPR for announcing the signing before the deal was done.

Villa have a new Sales Director. Stuart Ryan was commercial director for West Ham and also had jobs with Fila and Nike. He has promised to listen to the fans as he bids to increase Villa’s commercial success. Spurs, Charlton and Villa are said be to monitory Italian striker Bernardo Corradi who has confirmed he will be leaving Valencia this summer.

Postma link that I forgot the other day was to Ipswich (thanks Brian).

Thought for the day: Depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.
