The Times are saying that Aston Villa and Fulham are slugging it out for the signature of 25-year-old Poland striker Radoslaw Matusiak of GKS Belchatow for around £2.3 million.

The club Crest Consultation survey has had 2,100 fans already voting. The survey will run until Friday January 26. New Chief Executive Richard FitzGerald said: ‘This is a fresh start for the club and the chairman and board are keen to liase with supporters on as many key decisions as possible. We want to hear from as many supporters as possible on this issue.’ Full article: Click Here

According to The Sun, Watford will allow 21-year-old Ashley Young leave but only if the £9.65million bid that West Ham put in is matched. Reports suggest that Young would like a move to Spurs but has also been linked to Aston Villa with Martin O’Neill in desperate need of re-enforcements following a spell of 12 games with no wins. The 33-year-old former Liverpool and Portsmouth player reminded the club he was back following a loan spell at Stoke by scoring an outstanding goal in the reserves game last night. On-loan right back Phil Bardsley played the full 90 minutes for the reserves (2-2 v Pompey) last night and now has his eyes on stirring up a hornets nest on Saturday: ‘It was good to get 90 minutes under my belt. I’ve not played for a while, so it was a useful run-out for me. It was a decent game overall and we could have won it right at the death – should have done really. Hopefully now I’ve done enough to be involved on Saturday. There’s a big difference between Villa Park with just a handful of fans and Villa Park with 35,000 fans filling the stands. It’s a massive game for us and we have to stand up and be counted. We’ve not won for a while now and we need to put that right against Watford.’

Villa captain Gareth Barry has challenged young Gabriel Agbonlahor to score 10 goals for Villa this season. Following 14 games without a goal, Gabby got on the scoresheet v Manchester United and Barry said: ‘Gabby is off and running again after chipping in another goal at Old Trafford. That will give a lift to his confidence. If he can get to double figures, it will be a great first season for him. He’s half-way there now and it is a realistic target for him to try and achieve.’

Gareth Barry says of the weekends game against Watford: ‘It’s a chance to get our confidence back – with no disrespect to Watford – and a game we’re expected to win.’

Thomas Sorensen says this weekends game is a must win as Villa look to return to early season form. Full article: Click Here

Aston Villa’s reserve game v Spurs has been moved to Villa Park and will be played on Wednesday 11 April, kick-off 7pm.

Sky Sports say that Real Betis and St Etienne have joined the race to sign Aston Villa striker Milan Baros. With other reports linking him to Chelsea, Lyon, Werder Bremen, Levante and Villarreal Sky say Betis have now become front runners. Sky claim ‘They are rumoured to have offered Baros a lucrative deal, and are looking to capture his signature within the next few days. According to reports in France, St Etienne are also determined to snap up Baros, with coach Ivan Hajek confident of persuading his Czech compatriot to sign.’ No way can we sell a striker now, not even if we bring another one in should quality like this be allowed to leave, not until the end of the season at the very least.

Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by thegreatdando, what you thought, in a half time report, of Martin O’Neill and Randy Lerner. 76% said ‘they’ll sort the Villa’.
