Baros has been linked to a move to Villa once again having been left out of Liverpool’s friendly yesterday. Another report suggests he has been told by Benitez that he doesn’t have a future at Liverpool. Rumours suggest West Ham are about to bid £6million for him are also doing the rounds.

Mellberg picked up a knock before yesterdays friendly and was unable to play. Hopefully that was a knock and not a ‘knock’ that leads to a transfer.

Villa beat Wycombe 2-0 with Phillips and Whittingham scoring.

Phillips has set his sights on a 20 goal haul this season and says he has been given another chance in the Premiership and that he wants to take it with both hands.

DOL says Phillips could prove a steal and that he is quality.

Barcelona have dismissed reports linking Argentinean striker Saviola to a move to Villa saying they have had no contact from the Midlands club. DOL has also poured scorn on the rumour saying he hasn’t been to Spain in the last week and he doesn’t read the papers so he can avoid all the unfounded rumours.

Darius Vassell is being linked once more to Man City and with the £21million departure of Shaun Wright Phillips, Stuart Pearce has been promised some of the funds from the sale.

Steven Foley scored for Bournemouth in the friendly defeat against Charlton. Foley is hoping to be taken on loan for the season by Bournemouth were he could join former team mates James O’Connor and Stephen Cooke.

Thought for the day: OK, so what’s the speed of dark?
