Roy Aitken has countered claims that Aaron Hughes will be out for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage and has told the official site that he might in-fact be back in action on Tuesday night v Manchester City. Aitken said: ‘Yes he did go for a scan, but the scan revealed nothing more than bruising. There’s certainly no ligament damage. He’ll need to rest for a few days and won’t train again this week, but we’ve not ruled him out of the Manchester City game on Tuesday.’ Full article with Hughes quotes: Click Here

Aitken, who is fast becoming a medical expert (!) also expects Steven Davis to have a fighting chance of returning: ‘Initially we feared the worst, that it might be a pulled hamstring, but it looks like it is only a strain. We’re going to get it looked at now it has settled down and I don’t think he’ll be out for the season.’ Where is David O’Leary, not left us yet has he?!

Joleon Lescott has been linked to a £3million move to Villa. I interviewed the editor of Vital Wolves to see what he makes of the player. Full article:

Fellow defender Olof Mellberg, who has missed five games with a hamstring injury, doesn’t know if he will return for any of the remaining three Villa games but is confident of being fit in time to represent Sweden at the World Cup finals.

And just to contradict that report, the official site are saying that Olof Mellberg could return tomorrow in the reserves crunch (and possible title decider) against Manchester United tomorrow morning (at Tamworth). The report says he will get 45mins and if he is fit he will return to the squad for the Man City game.

Ulises de la Cruz wants talks with O’Leary and looks set for a Villa Park exit in the summer. He says again that he likes it at Villa but that he needs to be playing regular football. Full article: Click Here
