Reports in the Sunday Sun suggest that Aston Villa are again looking to bid for Newcastle United winger James Milner.
Villa have been linked to Celtic’s Stilian Petrov but might face competition from Portsmouth.

Former Celtic winger Didier Agathe is currently at Villa, Martin O’Neill explained to the official site: ‘He’s training with us and we’ll see how he goes. He’s here for a few days and I’m having as look. That’s all. There’s nothing more at the minute.’

Olof Mellberg has heralded in a new dawn with the first goal at Arsenal’s new stadium the Emirates. He said of the game: ‘It was great to get a point and it was a pleasing performance as well. We defended well in and outside the box and we weren’t too afraid of letting them get close to our goal. I thought we approached this game differently to how we’ve done in the past. In the past we’ve tried to play higher up the pitch and tried to go at them which has maybe created space for them and led to us conceding too many goals.’

According to The People, Aston Villa are interested in Manchester United fullback Phil Bardsley despite the fact he is currently on loan with Scottish giants Rangers.

Hamburg are still looking at an £8million bid for Villa and former Liverpool striker Milan Baros.

Kevin Phillips is wanted by Sunderland who are apparently willing to offer him a 3-year deal.

Mathieu Berson is said to be a target for Spanish La Liga side Levante.

Vital Villa asked if fans would accept a re-branding of Villa Park following comments by Randy Lerner: Click Here 62% said yes, they would accept it being sponsored as long as it was still Villa Park. 15% said yes, if it brought success. 2% said probably IF the brand was right – (my concern being they are sponsored by clothes manufacturer No Fear) 21% said no, Villa Park will always be Villa Park and for the first time ever 0% were unsure.

  • think Baros silence speaks volumes. And losin berson wouldnt be such a blow as he hardly played for us ever.Money from them could bring in petrov and maybe a new striker.MON likes a big target man any ideas?they seem to be hard to come by these days.

  • If baros does want to leave at least he not slating us to the press like a good deal of other players seem to do now days.

  • There’s more going on at Villa Park right now, and pretty much all of it positive, than there has been for a long, long time. Yes, no word from Milan Baros as to whether he’s staying or going, but no doubt his immediate future will become clearer over the

  • Ellis is gone, O’Leary is gone. We have got the best manager in the land and a billionaire owner with some big ideas. Party time. I think we should keep all players even phillips as aug – jan can be a long time with a few key injuries.
