Unoial Villa News…

Not exactly a bumper edition of Villa news, but here goes!

Good luck to Vital Villa member Randy.Stand who gets to spend the day hob knobbing with the Villa board, manager and players. Have a ball matey!

Villa’s Hungarian midfielder Zoltan Stieber has been named the first BBC Radio WM Young Player of the Month. He told www.avfc.co.uk at the time: ‘Last season went very well for me and I signed my first professional contract. I played for the reserves and Under-18s and was happy with the way things went. I look at players like Gabby Agbonlahor and Craig Gardner who have come from the Academy into the first-team and I want to do the same.’

Villa defender Martin Laursen wants to tie up his future at Villa after proving his fitness. The Danish international and former AC Milan player, who has suffered a horrific time with injuries since his arrival to Villa Park , said ‘I would like to stay here. I feel good, but nothing has happened yet.’ Adding on the future, ‘I don’t think we have to worry that much about the injury coming up again. I think it was a bad injury and you can get that, and that is it, we know I don’t have a perfect knee but I think that everyone is very happy with my knee- the officials, my doctor, myself…I am fit now and I am playing now – so I don’t think it will have to be written into a contract.’ Click Here

Big John Carew has admitted he wasn’t on form in the away game against Manchester City and agrees it was right for him to be taken off in the second half. Can’t quite fathom what is going on here, why should a top class athlete be tired so early in the season? The Hulk, who has played and dominated for Norway in recent games, told Nettavisen (a must watch in the Fear household you understand, I didn’t see this from Sky Sports at all!!) ‘I felt tired and stiff after all the matches recently. I got it out of the system in the first 20 minutes, but it was no surprise that I was substituted in the second half. I shall now go home and rest. Fortunately, we don’t have our next match until Sunday and then I expect to be fresh again.’

Gary Cahill has, as expected, gone out on loan. The England Under-21 defender and slayer of all things blue, has gone to Sheffield United having fallen down the pecking order at Villa with the arrival of Zat Knight and Curtis Davies. Cahill insists he is happy at Villa and not looking for a move but has gone on loan to get games. Full article: Cahill A Go Go

The Villa reserves served up a treat as they beat Derby 4-1 making it three wins in a row. Curtis Davies not only made his Villa debut but also scored following a classy supply from Patrik Berger who played for 74 minutes following his return from a hamstring injury. Gulp, looks like the Villa faithful have err, little faith in the Villa strikers to get close to 20 goals this season according to our last poll. Let The Revolution B asked: Which of our strikers can get closest to 20 goals this season? The majority, with 59%, voted, ‘Nobody will get close – MON please sort!’ Full results:Click Here
