The game has SO changed. Our pen wouldn’t have even been a free kick 15 years ago! Davis/Grabban made a difference when they came on, lovely skill from Davis 10 min 20 s in,such a shame he wasn’t able to bury it #AVFC Not sure why Johnson punched ball?https://t.co/WPYK0Qli33

The Villa View post match opinions. As the first fan interview says, with that performance, it was a point gained.

Three things we learned from the strange, scrappy draw against Preston North End last night.
1) No need to panic. Yet
Yes, it was a disappointing game. Or at least a very disappointing first half. We did improve second half and nearly snatched the victory at the death. Lesson though? Err… well, I`m not panicking yet. We are on one defeat in 9 games if my maths are correct! The game last night, disappointing though it was, would have been the sort of match we`d have lost over the last four or five seasons and we`d have seen heads drop all over the pitch.

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has said that he has to be ‘fairly pleased’ that we came out of Tuesday night’s encounter with Preston North End with a point as anything more would’ve been ‘unjust’ given how pathetic a performance it was again.
Hosting Alex Neil’s side at Villa Park for the midweek tie, they dominated chances on the day even allowing for our second half improvement with three effectively up front, and following Tom Barkhuizen’s 37th minute goal they looked pretty good value for all three points until substitute Lewis Grabban opened his club account with a 66th minute penalty.

Thought for the day: “Someone threw a bottle of omega 3 pills at me. Luckily my injuries were only super fish oil….”
