Martin O’Neill says Milan Baros has given him food for thought following his goal in the reserves against Spurs on Monday. ‘He did really well. He scored the goal and did really well. He tried to get hold of the ball, tried to turn, tried to run with it. He did fine. It will give me food for thought, absolutely, because although we haven’t had that much tinkering we have had to change things a wee bit because of injuries and suspensions.’

Martin O’Neill will apparently decide today whether he is going to re-call Lee Hendrie from his loan at Stoke or allow him to stay at the Potters. Hendrie Recall d-day?

Martin O’Neill is pleased that the Premier League have allowed former Villa defender Gareth Southgate to carry on as Middlesbrough boss. ‘I wish him well. It is a very difficult task. It’s good that he’s been given the go-ahead to continue on there. I am an advocate of that, it’s not a problem. He will be picking up things every single day.
