Unoial Villa News…

According to the News of the World, River Plate will make a move for Aston Villa striker Juan Pablo Angel in the summer and Villa won’t stand in the Columbian international strikers way. River Plate Return For Angel?

Mark Delaney will find out this week if he can step up his long awaited comeback from injury after he visits Dr Richard Steadman in America. Full article: Mark Delaney Verdict This Week

According to the rumour sites Bolton and Middlesbrough will fight for the signature of Villa left-back Jlloyd Samuel who can leave on a free in the summer.

The gossip sites are suggesting that former Newcastle defender Aaron Hughes could be leaving Villa Park and heading to the Magpies enemy in Sunderland! The link seems a bit tenuous and as it is only on the gossip sites I can’t see much substance to it, we surely need Hughes to remain as back up as he can play right across the back of defence? Wilfred ‘boom boom shake shake da room’ Bouma is looking to return for the Fulham match on Saturday when Aston Villa will actually be allowed to play a frigging game of football for the first time in three weeks and says he wants to keep up the form that has seen him re-called to the Dutch team after 18 months in the wilderness. Do they have a wilderness in Holland, I know they have Amsterdam, but that is just full of wildebeest really! Full article: Boom Boom Bouma To Return

Vital Villa asked, following an article by Stennyvilla Turn the music off and sing , whether we should blast the music loud or whether we should turn the music off and create our own atmosphere. 50% said it was a stupid idea, 4% saying they wanted loud music and 1% saying it wouldn’t catch on. That left 2% unsure, 28% thinking it was worth a trial and just 15% thinking it was a great idea.

Tickets for the trip to Blackburn Rovers (April 7) are now on priority sale. Tickets for the home match v Wigan Athletic (April 9) are also on general sale.

Gordon Cowan’s says the good times will soon return to Villa: ‘There’s a feeling about the club now – a feelgood factor – and I think we’re going places. It’s not before time to be fair, but I think we’re finally going to be battling up there at the top with the best of them.’

And another Villa legend, Tony Morley, agrees saying on the partnership between Ashley Young and John Carew ‘I think we’ve got another Andy Gray or Peter Withe. You can see the way the fans have taken to him and it’s easy to understand why. He’s going to be lethal once he’s 100 per cent match fit and the way he linked-up with Ashley Young on Saturday was fantastic to see. It’s always been the case that strikers hunt in pairs – we had Withey and Gary Shaw who forged a superb partnership and down the years Villa have had some decent pairings.’

Patrik Berger has said the competition for places is much better at Villa adding on the bright future at Aston Villa: ‘It’s going to take time, it’s not going to happen straight away. But everything is going in the right direction. The new training ground will be ready for next season, the chairman is spending money bringing new players in – which is probably going to continue in the summer – and we just need to keep going and finish this season as high as we can.’

Randy Lerner has said categorically that Villa Park will not be expanded until we fill the existing stadium but promises that any future plans will take into account our history and reflect it. Full article: Improvements Due To Villa Park

Ashley Young says the club is now ambitious and believes Aston Villa will soon be playing Champions League Football. ‘Villa is a massive club that wants to be in the top six and I believe that’s what’s going to happen – and even play in the Champions League. I’m looking at playing in that competition and I don’t believe it’s just me. It’s the club as a whole. If you talk to the manager, the chairman or any of the players, they’ve all got ambition to play in the Champions League. Hopefully that will happen as soon as possible.’

Thought for the day: whatever hits the fan will not be distributed evenly.
