Gabriel Agbonlahor has spoken about Villa captain Gareth Barry saying: ‘Everyone knows about Gareth, but it’s football and he’ll do what he feels it’s right to do. He doesn’t tell us anything. It’s his business. It would be great to keep him and it would be great to keep all our quality players but it never happens like that, does it? We’ll wait and see. I’m quite close to him but he doesn’t really talk about what’s going to happen to him.’

He says he knows like all clubs that money will need to be made available for the summer and says he is also conscious ‘of managing the players leaving and trying to generate funds from that. It is a balancing act but, yes, there will be funds. Will the credit crunch impact on funds available this summer? I don’t really view the credit crunch as a big issue in terms of the funding for the summer.
