Unoial Villa News…

Great article by a Charlton fan lambasting the rubbish that David O’Leary comes out with about us being a ‘small’ club. Link: Click Here Oh, and it has a good Monday morning rant from me!

Our latest poll at Vital Villa is asking whether David O’Leary is ‘a joke and should be sacked, ‘never a villa man, should leave’, ‘average manager’, ‘ruined Leeds, will ruin Villa’, or ‘great manager, wrong chairman’.

Reports last week suggested that everything in ‘Delaney-Land’ was ticketeboo, however the Wales international defender soon put pay to those reports lambasting the club and manager for only taking up the one-year-option on his contract instead of extending his stay. ‘Although it has been reported that this is good news for everyone, I can assure you that I am deeply disappointed the manager and board have not seen fit to offer me an extended deal and that it has taken this long to come to a conclusion which I felt could have been reached some time ago. It is quite clear to me that the manager does not see my long-term future at the club and he has told me that if the right offer comes in, I would be allowed to leave in the summer.’ Full article:Click Here

We asked in a poll is Delaney was right to be angry. 38% said yes, 7% said yes but he is on good money so why moan, 7% said no and he is always injured and the majority said everything at Villa is just too negative.

David O’Leary has said that he is ‘disappointed’ with the comments by Mark Delaney and especially the fact they were made through the media.

Villa have had a Wilfred Bouma boost, which is nice! The Dutch international is back in training after missing two months with a knee injury. Shreks younger brother has been pencilled in for the reserves game v Leeds on March 7.

Jlloyd Samuel was again linked to Charlton in the weekend press and Delaney was linked by the News of the World to a free summer move to Blackburn.

The date for Villa’s FA Cup replay against Manchester City has been confirmed as Tuesday March 14 with a kick off time of 7.45pm.

Villa will face Bolton or West Ham if they beat City at the City of Manchester Stadium or whatever they call it! That tie would take place on March 20th, but lets concentrate on not repeating the awful performance against Citeh first, especially as it is once again to be televised.

O’Leary has suggested that Villa won’t be able to afford to take on a permanent deal as his budget may be only around £3million in the summer. As I suggest in the full article, if that budget is right, Villa will find themselves relegated. Full article: Click Here

Aaron Hughes has been forced to withdraw from the Northern Ireland squad for Wednesday’s home friendly with Estonia and is touch and go for Saturdays home fixture against Portsmouth after picking up a calf injury v Charlton last Saturday.

Patrik Berger is looking to end an injury savaged season with a FA Cup final visit to Cardiff. I could go on and type more, but why waste your time or mine?!
Tickets for Villa’s FA Cup replay at Manchester City are now on General Sale.

The under-18’s beat Small Heath 4-0 this weekend with goals from Tobias Mikaelsson (2), Adam McGurk and Chris Herd.
