Martin O’Neill has spoken about Scott Carson’s recent comments saying he’d like to get his future sorted and be settled. ‘We’ll be making decisions but like anything else there will be a number of parties concerned. Martin O’Neill is delighted that Patrik Berger has regained fitness and he hopes he can still have an impact this season. Speaking to the Evening Mail, O’Neill commented: ‘His pre-season was going particularly well and he then got injured the day before the Liverpool game. Psychologically that was a big knock-back for him. He had ended the season so brilliantly the year before. He has been thwarted by injuries this year, but anybody is capable of coming in because we don’t have the numbers. And I am delighted to see him back again. If he is fully fit he has got every available opportunity. Anything like the impact he made in the last third of last season will be good enough.’ However the player could well be off in the summer, for details: Click Here
Martin O’Neill has explained the omission of Stiliyan Petrov from the Villa side v Reading. ‘I’ve decided to take Stiliyan out of the firing line to get his confidence back. All too fleetingly he’s shown the really great form and, to be fair, we’ve played him out of position because he can go and play off the centre-forward.’ Full quotes: Click Here
