Fieldy: Bouma is proud to have been a Villan and delighted we took him to heart, especially the concern he says fans showed him during his unfortunate injury. Speaking on the Official Site as Bouma I suppose ‘officially’ left B6 he was full of praise for the faithful and admitted he was very emotional when he said goodbye properly to the home crowd at halftime against Blackburn. Fieldy: Stephen Warnock is prepared to soldier on in an effort to impress Fabio Capello despite twisting his ankle in training. The story is covered on the official site, but uses the same quotes we covered the other day where Warnock discussed his chances of impressing Capello, but realising Leighton Baines was ahead of him in the pecking order – so to save your weary eyes I won’t repeat them. And another earlier in the week from Warnock: Stephen Warnock has one final opportunity to book himself a place in the last 23 for the World Cup but with Baines seemingly preferred by Capello he doesn’t hold out much hope. Warnock is third choice at the moment behind Ashley Cole and Leighton Baines, although how that can be the case given Baines’ performance against Mexico is anyone’s guess – but it does leave the Japan friendly as Warnock’s final shot to impress and if he does get the chance then he seriously needs to return to his early season form and not the performances we saw as the season drew to a close. Nigel Hokey Cokey could be back on the International scene. No, Capello hasn’t come calling. Apparently he could play for Sierra Leone! Their FA president has pleaded with the former England U21 midfielder ‘ If he was sat here now, I would beg him to play for us. I would go down on my knees and say to him – ‘Reo, your country needs you`.’

Fieldy: Stephen Warnock is full of praise for James Milner but concedes with the right offer Villa will have trouble holding onto the midfielder. Speaking to the press following England’s 3-1 victory over Mexico last night, Warnock was full of praise for his team mate saying that it’s no surprise the PFA’s Young Player of the Year is in demand following the season he had just had with the club, on top of his obvious England recognition now. Full article: Warnock’s Milner Concern

Fieldy: Paul Merson has described Ashley Young as a dream for Carew and Heskey and has backed him to bounce back after his World Cup disappointment. Merson has long admired Ash’s ability to whip the ball in early from the wing and insists his first time deliveries must be a ‘dream’ for the likes of Carew and Heskey. Transfer talk, Carew to Italy or Turkey maybe?! Carew To Italy? Villa Transfer Talk Round Up

Fieldy: Martin O’Neill has admitted that we need to reinvigorate the ‘Fortress Villa Park’ form next season in an effort to pick up the all important extra points for a Champions League push. Our home form contained a very respectable 3 losses, we picked up 8 wins but what let us down was the 8 draws especially those draws that stick in our minds where we viciously grabbed a point from the jaws of 3. Thought for the day: I’m dating a couple of anorexics, two birds, one stone.
