Unoial Villa News…

Jeff Winter, in a column on Vital Hartlepool, thinks Villa might just be able to break the top four: Jeff, I was wondering if you think Aston Villa can break the top 4 in the Premier League. It hasn’t happened for years and it can only be good for football. Jon. At the start of the season they were 6/1 to finish top of the League without the ‘Big Four’, I thought it was a cracking bet then and I still do now. They are building the squad and certainly appear capable of giving Arsenal at least a run for fourth spot this season. When you look at the League table and the fact that everyone expects the big four to finish in the first four places, perhaps they could even do better than that. I do think that it is good for football, whilst money seems to talk louder than anything a more competitive League is good for football and that does not only apply to the Premier League, League Two is also compelling this season. You can ask the former ref questions yourself: Vital Hartlepool (If you can’t keep it clean, please don’t bother at all, thanks!!)

Craig Gardner says he is hoping he has done enough to keep his starting place for the game against Wigan this weekend: ‘It`s been hard, but you have to look at how well we have been playing. But the fact we were still winning and yet the manager decided to put me back in was a massive confidence boost. I think things went well, it was a really good result but we are now up against a decent side in Wigan who are on a good run. It`s up to the gaffer to pick his side, hopefully I have taken my chance.’ Full article: Craig Gardner Looking To Keep Starting Place
