Unoial Villa News…

A gossip site says that Liverpool will get David Villa of Valencia in the summer meaning Martin O’Neill will land striker Craig Bellamy.

Another rumour – totally unfounded as far as I can see – says Villa are after Baggies defender Paul McShane. How did they come to that conclusion? The Villa boss was at the Republic of Ireland match on Saturday.

Another site suggests Martin O’Neill hasn’t decided whether to take Manchester United right-back Phil Bardsley permanently and that Portsmouth and Middlesborough might move for the defender.

Martin O’Neill has slated Andy Gray for his recent criticism of the Villa boss saying the Sky pundits arguments don’t stack up. Full article: Andy Gray Put Back In His Boxlick Here

Martin O’Neill says Jlloyd Samuel could still get a chance. Happy Birthday by the way Jlloyd, 26 today. O’Neill explained: ‘It’s been a bit unfortunate really for him, because this is a season where he started off in the team, then got injured for a fairly lengthy time. Others players came in and have done OK, so it’s been hard then for him to get back into the side again. I can understand that. He’s a free agent. He can look around to decide his own future and his future is very much in his own hands. I’ve had a chat with him and a few things can happen. He could maybe even break into the team between now and the end of the season and do well enough. I’ve got a real open mind about it and I think Jlloyd himself has. He might think that it’s time to go, but I’ve certainly not closed the door.’

Martin O’Neill says that Steve McClaren will get things right. Not sure if he had a straight face whilst saying it or not though? However, he also says that he is totally committed to Villa amid renewed rumours that McClaren will be sacked and O’Neill will be re-approached. ‘Firstly: I’m absolutely and utterly committed to Aston Villa Football Club – as is the owner. We want to do something about it. Secondly: I’d like to try and win some football games. I want to win more games than we have done. Thirdly: I believe that England will definitely qualify from the group. I think they’re good enough to qualify and I think the present manager will ride out the storm and be OK.’ Full article: Click Here

Mark Delaney is still fighting to return back to fitness. He visits the world renowned American surgeon Dr Richard Steadman mid April to have his knee injury checked before being given the go-ahead to start jogging. The luckless Welsh international defender said: ‘I’ve got my next assessment in the United States on April 16 when I hope to get the all-clear to start jogging. That’s the next goal for me. That’s when I will see Dr Richard Steadman and will find out how I have progressed. So far I’ve followed everything I’ve been asked to do, from 10 minutes on the bike in the morning and afternoon, to swimming and doing exercises in the pool.’
