1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?
October 1979 – crikey almost 40 years now
2) What is your favourite Villa moment of all time/most treasured memory?
Rotterdam 1982 will be etched in memory and heart of every Villa fan, I still get goosebumps when I watch the dvd.
3) If you could bring back a former Villa player into this team (at his peak) who would it be and why?
Only 1 player ? You meanie. Sid Cowans is my all time hero so for sentimental reasons it’s got to be him
4) Steve Bruce? Your opinion please?
Jury’s out for me, but even he knows he will be judged on what he does from now. Dr Tony won’t let things go on if Bruce doesn’t deliver results
5) Best and worst moments of last season?
Best moment would be the win over Blues at Villa Park, worst – some pretty awful displays all season but Barnsley at home was a disaster
6) Your opinion of Doctor Tony Xia and our CEO Keith Wyness?
Again its too early to really say. Tony Xia says and does the right things but whether or not this a long haul for the love of the club or a rich man’s play thing only time will tell. I hope he genuinely does have the club in his heart as we do. Keith is a football man with some pedigree having done well for Everton. All we can hope is that the Xia/Wyness coalition reaps great rewards for years to come
7) What do you think we need most in the transfer window?
A keeper on a permanent deal not a loanee. If we sign Johnstone then fine, he seemed to get better as the season went on. Another top striker as I don’t think Gabby or McCormack have enough goals in them to keep the pressure on Kodjia or Hogan (if he can get over his injury concerns)
8) Which player/s should Villa get rid of this summer?
There’s enough we should look to get rid of but whether we get what we want for them is another matter – this raises question marks about how much of a transfer kitty we have.
9) Favourite and least favourite current player? (Explanation if you wish)
Don’t really have a favourite – if they wear the Villa shirt and they give 110% every game and we win games that’s all I want from a Villa team.
10) Who was your first footballing hero and who are your favourite all time player/s?
Sid is my all time hero. Other greats in my time a Villa fan, Dwight Yorke was class up front, Brian Little the same, the players from the League and European Cup winning squad will always be cherished.
11) What do you expect us to do/finish this season coming?
Automatic promotion primarily, promotion via the play offs if we have to. Nothing else will do.
12) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?
Question – Do you like Aston Villa? Answer – Does a bear poo in the woods?
Just to change the theme slightly, a snap shot of you outside of football, answer or ignore at your leisure:
a) Which celebrity/s would you most like to meet and why? No one in particular springs to mind
b) Age 21 (plus VAT)…. oh alright 52
c) Location: Hull (or ‘Ull as we pronounce it)
d) Favourite alcoholic drink: Cider when I get chance which isn’t often being someone who drives for a living
e) Favourite non-alcoholic drink: Coffee or Coke
f) Favourite Film/s: Monty Python’s Life Of Brian is still my all time favourite
g) Favourite TV Show/s: very rarely watch it cos I work shifts, but I quite like Saturday Kitchen or Grand Designs if I am at home. And Family Guy when I get chance
h) Music?: rock and metal mostly, but not this new stuff – I’m talking classic stuff from the 80s. I’ve also started listening to 70s and 80s chart stuff – guess I’m getting old
i) Best ever moment in your life: I have to say getting hitched almost 10 years ago, but just between me and you it will always be Rotterdam 1982 and seeing the original line up of KISS headline Donington in 1996.
j) Ambitions: To see Villa win the FA Cup before I expire – 60 years of hurt
k) Wise words: If it looks like a steak, smells like a steak and tastes like a steak – then it’s a steak!!!
