Friday, 27th March

The ‘Old Stars` are celebrating their 50th year. Watching them is much like watching the Reserves for me – something I have done on more than one occasion, something I have enjoyed and something I say I will do more of, but don`t!

Gordan ‘Sid` Cowans has urged the club to give Stilyian Petrov a new deal – I concur. For me, Petrov has been player of the season, and I think it would be disastrous if we let him go.

Craig (U-21`s) and Gary (U-17`s) Gardner both represent winning England teams. James Milner also plays for the U-21`s.

Saturday, 28th March

Gareth Barry and Emile Heskey both represent England and Heskey scores before limping off early in the first-half.

Stilyian Petrov (Bulgaria), Brad Guzan (USA) and Barry Bannan (Scotland U21`s) all represent their nations too.

Sunday, 29th March

Emile Heskey pulls out of the England squad for Wednesday with a hamstring injury. It is safe to say that means he`ll be out for a bit longer, too.

Ashley Young is linked to Chelsea. I don`t see that happening, personally.

Finally, Marlon Harewood says he harbours no ill-feeling towards Martin O`Neill.

Monday, 30th March

The Reserve team had the chance to win the league tonight but lost 2-1 away to Spurs. Dominick Hofbauer scored for us before Spurs scored both their goals through penalties. Nathan Delfounso had a goal ruled out for offside half-way through the first half, and Elliot Parish actually saved the second penalty only for the ref to decide it needed to be taken again. While there is no guarantee, it is still extremely likely that we will win this title, and it may happen in the next game, which is at home to Fulham on April 20th.

The best news of all is that Wilfred Bouma started and played 84 minutes. I for one can`t wait to see him back in a Villa shirt, although I would imagine he may not be back to his best until next season.

Finally, Gary Gardner was once again on England U-17 duty as they beat Hungary 2-0.

Tuesday, 31st March

Gabby gets called into the England senior squad. I can`t believe he`s fully fit and therefore see it as a pointless exercise.

Marc Albrighton set up a Ciaran Clark goal for the England U-20 side. I`ve mentioned it before on here, but I am a big fan of Albrighton.

Wednesday, 1st April

Vital Villa editor Jonathan Fear announces he plans on buying a season ticket at St Andrews next season. April Foo… what? It doesn`t count now? Ah I am unappreciated in my own lifetime, I tells ya!

ANYHOO… Gareth Barry (England), Stylian Petrov (Bulgaria) and John Carew (Norway) all represent their countries – and win their matches, too.

Speaking of Gareth Barry, also heaped praise on Martin O`Neill for helping his career and improving him as a player. I am not sure he will re-pay him with anything other than a move to Liverpool on the summer, though.

Thursday, 2nd April

Martin O`Neill confirms that Emile Heskey will be out of the Manchester United game and will probably be out for up to two weeks afterwards.

Other than that, we have a bizarre amount of four transfer rumours today:

Alva Negredo (UD Almeria), Almen Abdi (FC Zurich), Jose Manual Jurado (Athletico Madrid, currently on loan at Mallorca) and Dickson Etuhu (Fulham) are all linked. Whether this is an ounce of truth in ANY of them remains to be seen!

So, it`s Old Trafford on Sunday… *SIGHS*
