There’s The Aston Villa We Don’t Like Very Much – Match Stats

Aston Villa welcomed Swansea City to Villa Park earlier this afternoon for our FA Cup third round tie.

Head coach Dean Smith selected a much changed side for the game, and January capture Lovre Kalinic made his debut between the sticks for us, and fans got another look at youngster Callum O’Hare who came into the starting eleven as one of the changes.

With Smith confirming that Tammy Abraham would be sitting this one out, it was over to Scott Hogan to impress at the top of the pitch.

With the right things being said ahead of the kickoff, sadly it seems the players themselves hadn’t got the message and we were behind after only two minutes. A few minutes after the halftime restart Swansea doubled their advantage and a bad day was quickly getting worse.

Swansea added a third with 12 minutes left to play and I think most fans lost the will to live in that moment.

I’m not sure Smith would’ve learned anything new after that, but it should have firmed up some ideas about players.
