With reports linking Aston Villa with a move for Southampton left-back Matt Targett well known – I’ve covered it previously myself – the fact we are now into the final few days of the transfer window, there’s a growing clamour for us to get a deal over the line for the 22-year-old.
Having reportedly missed out on Tammy Abraham who has decided to remain with Chelsea whilst fans still want an alternative striker in, given recent loan deals by the club, plenty would be happy if Targett was the final capture as that would provide us better balance and better competition in the backline as we seek further improvement.
Targett’s attacking skills down the left-hand side would also be an asset when it came to our offensive options.
Both Serra & Bruce have not ruled out Abraham so I think it could still happen.

Defence is priority, think Huth and Targett would be the perfect solutions #avfc

Whether we can get the deal done by the time the loan window slams shut on Friday at 5pm remains to be seen, but I live in hope anyway.
