Ross McCormack didn’t travel to Portugal for the club’s pre-season training camp, with Steve Bruce clearly not prepared to re-integrate the 31-year-old back into the first-team squad.

Despite the striker being on £40,000 a week, there seems to be no way back for the player, despite him still having two years left to run on his contract at Villa Park.

In a poll I conducted to see what we should do with McCormack, fans were split 50/50 on whether to keep or sell the goalscorer:

It’s a difficult one. With the departure of Grabban after his loan spell ended, and with Kodjia also linked with a move away from the club, we will need to find goals from somewhere.

Part of the solution will have to come from the youth setup with Keinan Davis and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, but they are both young and raw. In that sense, I can see how reintegrating McCormack back into the first-team could be the best way forward.

However, McCormack’s wages are a huge problem. We can’t have players on the books who are draining the club financially. What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
