With few Aston Villa players coming out unscathed from the defeat to Norwich City yesterday evening when it came to the more colourful on social media, plenty of fans have taken the time to show that the mad few actually know what they are on about.

Dean Smith’s post game interview was posted up by the clubs’ social media side last night and as you can imagine it garnered quite a few thoughts – as did other threads.
I have no idea if some were trying to lighten the mood with ‘Smith Out’ comments, my guess is they probably were, but others took the opportunity to precis the exact problems our new gaffer has to deal with and repeated this is not going to be fixed overnight and fans will need to swallow plenty of disappointments before we see more than momentary improvements.
I was thinking that throughout the game.Norwich are months ahead in the style they play.UTV.

@SmiffyLJ he has only been in for 2 games and you want to sack him all ready. You need to give him time. #ficklefans

Would you say 2 weeks, with most of one having players on international duty, is enough time to turn a struggling team into one that wins every week?

a manager that talks sense ????????????

Well said. It was a well contested game, still improvements to be made, but it'll all come in due time! #UTV #AVFC

He gets paid to keep everyone calm.

He's had less than a week with players and virtually no time to work on improving fitness which in my opinion has been our downfall for several years. The players need to be quicker, stronger and more determined.

Refreshing to hear something a bit more constructive and there was a marked improvement in the style for the 1st half. Not too keen on playing out from the back though, nearly got caught a couple of times – you need the players to do that. 2nd half, woeful. Grealish was poor.

As disappointed as we all are, the weight of expectation is so high amongst our fan base… some fans just need to relax and give him time.. it’s only his second game in charge, Rome wasn’t built in a day! #UTV

We need to go back to basics, think this guy will not be afraid to get rid of some dead wood as well, goto face it, we are going to be in this league for a bit longer yet until some of the players on big wages either perform or get replaced!! ????????????

Common sense and honesty. This is definitely the fella we've been waiting for. Watch the reaction on Friday now. Great time to be a Villa fan

I don’t think it’s unfair to mention there were also some constructive comments criticising the performance and Smith’s choice of substitutions as they didn’t work on the day and that’s abundantly clear to all, but if he’s going to be a success here he’ll learn from that and demand more and if they can’t meet his demands, they’ll be gone.
