I wouldn’t normally cover nonsense like this but I’m not doing anything else at the minute so why not. Aston Villa midfielder Gary Gardner has given another indication that he has no real intention of returning to Villa Park when his loan at Birmingham City expires.

The 26-year-old Academy graduate headed out across the city in early August with his Villa career and early potential stuttering given the double knee injury he had all those years ago that held him back. He was never as bad as some made out, but clearly never quite got back to the performance levels that his early promise indicated and after numerous loan spells, well, his face didn’t fit under Steve Bruce.

Given the success his time at Nottingham Forest was playing alongside Henri Lansbury, I still wonder how that may have worked for us – but Lansbury is no closer to the pitch either is it.

Anyway, back on track.

He had the temerity the other day to ‘like’ a post on Instagram describing the city as being ‘blue’.

It didn’t go over well.

Must admit, I thought it was a comment suggesting life wasn’t great at St Andrew’s given their own Financial Fair Play shenanigans and lofty, but usual, 17th place in the table.
