The Liverpool Echo is reporting that we are trying to sign Liverpool midfielder Ben Woodburn on loan.
The Welsh international did not travel with the Reds for their pre-season training camp in France suggesting a move could happen shortly.
Most fans on Twitter are excited by the potential of the teenager:
Now this would be a good deal for Villa. This kids special.

Good player, but we are strong in that area with Albert and Green. Perhaps Albert going, there has been a few rumours.

Liverpool look to penalise teams that don’t play their loaned players meaning he would play regardless of form. It would also send a very clear message to RHM, Green and O’Hare

Verdict:
The Echo report that Sheffield United are the other team in the race to sign Woodburn but we are said to be hopeful of beating the Blades to the 18-year-old’s signature.
He can play out wide, in central midfield or up front, but he is a raw talent. Despite impressing during his seven caps for Wales, he has played just 11 games in senior football.
The Welshman is no doubt ready for the step up. Playing on the left wing and in a number 10 role for Liverpool’s Under 23s, he has scored ten goals and provided 8 assists in 24 Premier League 2 matches over the last two years. Whether he can translate those type of numbers to the Championship, we will have to see.
