Aston Villa youngster Callum O’Hare will be relishing the opportunity to impress new head coach Dean Smith and he couldn’t have done more on Monday evening as he hit a brace for our Under 23 side as we lost out to Newcastle United.
Kevin MacDonald’s side did lose 5-2 on the night at the Bescot Stadium, but O’Hare initially gave us the lead before grabbing his second on the evening and with a little bit more luck, he could’ve walked out of the game with a hat-trick.
As it is in the Premier League 2 campaign of 2018/19 he has to be content with only three goals in six starts.
With many fans rating the 20-year-old talent incredibly highly, he does have four senior starts to his name, as well as four substitute showings in the Championship itself, but those appearances came last season and some fans are clamouring for him to start getting minutes this year to show what he can do.
Instead of Jack?

This is a good point, we can't just rely on Jack, form/injuries/suspensions happen or transfer etc O'Hare is the perfect player to cover for Jack????

Get O’Hare in the first team! Give Grealish some competition! #avfc https://t.co/MmFUUi5fdV

With Smith no doubt taking a good luck at what’s available to him, I would expect to see O’Hare soon even if it’s only a couple of substitute showings again. As the above comments imply, he’s a good alternative to Jack Grealish but from what I’ve seen, they are slightly different players so both being in the lineup at some point isn’t out of the question for me.
