Eagled eyes Aston Villa fans may have noticed one piece of news from the last round of Championship fixtures at the week – Tommy Elphick’s performance for Hull City.
With plenty taking the positives, and many others the negatives, from our defeat on Friday evening to Queens Park Rangers as we seemingly did everything but put the ball in the back of the net, on Saturday our out of favour centre-half was playing his part in helping Hull to a clean sheet against Bolton Wanderers.
The 31-year-old did make three appearances for us this year before the obligatory ‘drop him’ for no real reason came into play and he’s now got nine appearances under his belt for the KCOM Stadium outfit, and although he moved on in August on a loan deal for the complete 2018/19 campaign, we should have a January break clause in his deal and when the window opens, we can recall him at some point – I’m just not sure when it comes into play.
As does Elphick…????

Elphick and Stevens too…. We must have the worst record on player retention this century. Spot the talent!

I think we'll bring him back in Jan (hopefully)

The above fans have a very good point, he’s already our player, he doesn’t need time to settle in and he could have an immediate impact as his showings at the start of the year were far from shabby, even if two of them came in much-changed sides and poor overall EFL Cup performances.
