Gareth Barry has been linked to…. oh no, hang on, he’s gone hasn’t he, sorry so used to starting the rumours with gossip on him! :o)

So have we today Villa related, all links inward which is a good start!

The Times say that Villa have bid £7million for 22-year-old Atlético Madrid midfielder José Manuel Jurado who spent last season on loan at Real Mallorca where he scored 9 goals in 35 appearances.

His wiki info: Click Here

They also claim, amongst other reports, that Villa are interested in Serbian Red Star Belgrade midfielder Nenad Milijas who has featured in our transfer gossip articles before. As reported on Vital Wolves, they are also looking to bid £2.6million for the player.

Danny Fullbrook of the Daily Star says Villa want to bring back former Arsenal winger Alexander Hleb who moved to Barcelona for £17million last summer. Apparently the Barca boss Pep Guardiola is willing to sell him and the report claims he is now valued at around £10million. Deflation, its a killer isn’t it?!

The report says MON see’s the player as a striker or wide midfielder to add a bit of competition for Ashley Young and James Milner. I also believe MON see’s him as a left-back but can’t get confirmation of that! :o)))) Danny report says Hleb’s agent Oliver Minztlaff confirmed interest from English and German clubs. But Villa are top of the list.

Wiki on Hleb Click Here Not sure about this one, didn’t he go way off the boil for the Gunners?

According to Sky Sports the agent of Obafemi Martins claims there is interest from three Premier League clubs for the Newcastle United striker. They claim Arsenal, Everton and Aston Villa are the interested clubs. The 24-year-old joined Newcastle in 2006 from Inter Milan for £10million and has scored 28 goals for them since.

The Birmingham Mail also have the Martins link and repeat the links to Spurs duo Tom Huddlestone and David Bentley.

David Trezeguet’s agent says the Juventus striker might be interested in a move to the Premiership. ‘The English option is possible and there are quite a few different clubs interested in David. Obviously I cannot say which, but just think about the sides that can afford a world class player like him. There aren’t all that many to choose from.’ Tribal have the headline linking us and Arsenal and also mention Manchester City and Tottenham. Must admit I can’t see where the substance is as to who are interested but hey, we can but dream.

Wiki on the France international: Click Here Looks rubbish to me, he’s only scored 131 goals!!

Sultana Sports have quotes from Malaga midfielder Antonio Apono after the 25-year-old was linked to Villa. On his agents he says ‘They have not told me anything. But I am a Malaga player and am very happy here. What I am going to do now is relax. My representative deals with that kind of stuff. If they were to make a move in my direction, then I would have to listen to what they have to say and think about it. Nevertheless, I repeat that Malaga is my club and I am not aware of anything.’

  • Why are we linked with Huddlestone? Surely not an improvement and more of the Leicester City mould of player…a la Heskey, Routledge, Agathe etc…. Come on MON dig deeper and think bigger PLEASE!!

  • Hleb, Carvalho, Owen, Dafour, Me, my mate Ryan whos a bit tasty playing right back and maybe Trezeguatatet…however you spell it. Job done, right I’m off to lunch, bring on the Champs League.

  • Not sure Huddlestone is the player to replace Barry. I think we need someone a bit more dynamic who can pass and drive forward.
Hleb is an interesting link. On paper he should work well with our team and style and leave us less reliant on Ash. I’m sure I read that the Arsenal fans reckon he lost his bottle after getting a good kicking in the Prem though.

  • Laursen and Barry were our stars, we need big names in who will raise the clubs standing. Huddlestone is a squad player and nothing more. I so hope MON moves in the trasfer window quickly it will settle club and the fans after two big losses!

  • Exactly my point johnmurphy3112 – we need real quality and leadership potential and not a big oaf squad type player…Surely Hleb, Defour or …wait for it….Tim Cahill would fit the bill better?

  • these are the sort of names we like to read! Hleb would be great, heaps of experience, quick. as a keen follower of the spanish league, Jurado is also in the creative midfielder mould and a very good player.

  • obafemi martins.. does anyone actually know how old he is? i mean i know he’s supposed to be 24, but im pretty certain celestine babayaro has claimed in the past that martins was playing with him in the under 21s. Was martins in the under 21’s at the age of about 15 then!?

  • PBAVFC – id take u and/or ur mate over owen any day of the week. ill even pay u the same if it means we dont sign him. as good as he WAS, and as much as i hate to say it, hes just not worth it any more. Unless you can find someone willing to donate two fully functioning legs? Im quite fond of mine tho

  • thought there would have bin a some actual bids tabled and on official website by now we need to move quickly to replace barry and add others so everyone knows where they are asap or it could be chaos come on matin give us some signings

  • Jurado and Milijas – I know nothing about them, but yeah , why not!!.. Hleb – definite yes. Top quality. I think Le Ar5e really missed him this year. Obafimi Martins – if he is 24 then I’m a Dutchman (for sure!!) – hit and miss, not consistent enough. Huddlestone, lets hope his price isn’t per pound otherwise he will cost a fortune!!. Yes to Bentley. Trezeguet – yes. Good experienced international, though knocking on a bit. Apono – see Jurado above!!

  • The season before last when Arsenal beat us at VP 1-2, Hleb ripped us apart in the 1st half – he was sensational. Carew had to kick him down early in the 2nd to stop him from running riot. Its players of this calibre we must attempt to sign in order to replace Barry….

  • I’d be well pleased with Hleb. Huddlestone has a very fine range of passing, a rocket of a shot and the turning circle of an overloaded battleship – wouldn’t wana pay a lot for him.

  • hleb’s agent claims no contact with villa has benn made and he wants to fight for his place at barca. he an agent so you have to believe him. ill get my coat

  • What about van der Vaart. His face doesn’t seem to fit at Madrid but he is a class central midfielder who chips in with his share of goals. Hleb, yes. Martins, Owen, Huddlestone, NO.

  • Talking about Hleb, his agent says he isn’t going to return to the Premiership, expect us to sign him tomorrow! Agent Oliver Minztlaff told Sport he wants to stay and fight for his place at Barcelona. “Hleb is not satisfied with the opportunities he has had. He would like to play more, but he is confident that he will be able to prove to Guardiola that he is good enough.” He did admit that there has been interest from German and English clubs but added “In Barca, he has found a club where he can win titles and his sole intention is to stay there.”
