How strange, I went into the 100% Vital Villa forum this morning to have a quick peak whilst packing my suitcase to come home from my jollies and I saw this in our random quotes section:

Random quote: ‘It’s a great job, great fans, great history, great club. For any manager, to manage Villa is a privilege.’ Olof Mellberg

Despite the problems at the top, despite the owner wanting out and looking to sell and despite the fact no one has come forward and bid as yet… we still are a good club. Not great at the moment, there are too many problems above manager level, but still I think the quotes from Olof Mellberg ring true.

Great history, fabulous fans, superb facilities, there are certainly worst places for a manager to come surely!?

We can’t pull up trees with our squad or the selling our best players policies but we sure as anything can get a manager to do the basics and to settle the team down into a proper formation and some sort of cohesive unit.

Step forward the next manager, I pray to Paul McGrath you’re better than the last four or five!
