Alex McLeish has said that Villa are aiming for a top eight – at least – finish in the league this season, but he can’t ignore the FA Cup.
Speaking to the Official Site McLeish called the league ‘huge’ for Villa and said he wanted us to finish as high as possible in the second half of the season, but he also believes we can go on a run in the FA Cup if we prepare ourselves properly.
‘The Premier League is huge to us. We’d like to climb the table as high as we can. We know the fan expectations of this club are that we should be fighting up towards that top eight spot at least. We have to have that mission for the second half of the season.’
But he is in love with the magic of the FA Cup.
‘The magic of the FA Cup dictates you can’t leave anything to chance and you have to go and do your utmost to get through to the next round. We have to go there without any fear and play to our capabilities.’
Seems to be a lot of this ‘no fear’ malarky going round at the moment.
