Martin O’Neill says it isn’t beyond Villa to finish in the top half of the Premiership this season and is hoping to gain three points tomorrow v Fulham to get us on our way.

O’Neill said: ‘We haven’t played for so long, and it is like starting over again- that is exactly what it is. It is almost as if we have isolated this third part of the season, it is starting now and other than these two games in quick succession (Liverpool and Arsenal) it is going to be weekend football all the way and off you go.’

‘We are still in a position to look over our shoulder, but also we have found that the sides in front of us have not gone miles clear. So it is all to play for and it is up to us now to try and win a game. In the last four games there has been a lot of decent stuff but at the end of it all it is about points and we need now to not give teams starts.’

‘We must start getting focused early on in games and not concede some poor goals from our viewpoint. I still think that all of it could change because if we get beat at Fulham we then have Liverpool and Arsenal as our next two games. But I still think we are capable of catching those sides in the immediate vicinity of us. From where we started, if we can finish in the top half it would definitely be a decent result. I think we are capable of doing it.’

Villa in the run up to the end of the season face Fulham (a), Arsenal (h), Liverpool (h), Everton (h), Blackburn (a), Wigan (h), Middlesbrough (a), Portsmouth (h), Manchester City (a), Sheffield United (h), Bolton (a).

EASY. Maximum points hereon in then?!
