Over the past couple of years, the Aston Villa Supporters’ Trust has been working with the Club Board, past and present, on a Statue for William McGregor. William McGregor was a Director of Aston Villa Football Club and moreover is credited with being the brainchild behind the formation of The Football League. The Club and Trust are committed to honouring his massive contribution to English and World Football by placing a permanently commemoration for all to see at the site where it should be: Villa Park.

Given the Club’s new marketing with its ‘Proud History – Bright Future’ motto and value of ‘Togetherness’, the statue of William McGregor will be a joint project between Club and its supporters.

The Club have committed their management support and funding to the project, and now, it’s the fans’ turn to place their side of the funding.

A macquette of the proposed statue has been commissioned, with the final full scale version to be prepared before casting.

The Trust is looking for fans to make a donation towards the statue:

a). send a cheque should made payable to the ‘Aston Villa Supporters’ Trust’ and write Statue on reverse side. Please include with the cheque your name, address, and email address (if available), so that we can record details of the receipt and add your name to the list of donees. Send to AVST, 2 Coton Road, Walton On Trent, DE12 8NL; or

b). make a donation by Credit Card or Paypal, please visit the Trust website at www.villatrust.org.uk and click on the “Donate” button found on the left hand menu bar.

The goal is to raise £30,000 towards the supporter side of the funding.
